All the commissions of INP that animate the province in the various sectors, met for a day long meeting on 27th July 2010 at the Provincial house in Odxel. The Provincial and his council gathered with all the leaders and commission members (around 30 Salesians) and for the first time two lay persons were also present as members of commissions (Past Pupils and Salesian Family).
At the outset the Provincial made the agenda very clear: `We are all here for Youth Ministry and all our energies are channeled in this direction`. Even though each commission has its own task, he reminded that we should not worry so much about the activities but the process. He announced that the Chapter documents have been approved by the General council, and now the time has come to give flesh to the paper, the thoughts that went behind them, and the purpose we all had in mind.
In the inaugural address the Provincial, Rev Fr Ian Figueiredo, expressed his fears that as salesians we should not be concerned so much as to maintain ourselves but focus on the Youth Ministry we are called to do. `We should not lose focus on where God wants us to take the Young!` he said. He concluded reiterating the principal priorities the province had chose during the Provincial Chapter 2010: Vocation, Quality Education and Neighbourhood Apostolate.
Each of the commissions met independently reflecting on the need of youth and the response they could give keeping in mind the sectors that are responsible. They chalked out a tentative plan that was shared in common and discussed. The Vice Provincial Rev Fr Paul D`Souza, conducted the meeting, and the provincial concluded the meeting with the closing address, once again urging for renewed enthusiasm and commitment.
