More than 50 participants from different mandals of Khammam District converged at Mary Immaculate High School, Wyra on February 27, 2010 for commemorating the Women`s day (anticipated from March 8). After the registration of names we had the combined inaugural session by Mrs. Gonela Vijayalakshmi, (District Zillaparishad Chairperson). Fr. Gova Shaowraiah, (Principal & Correspondent of Kristu Jyothi College Reddygudem), Mr. Joshi (District Coordinator for Child Right, JJ Desk), Mr. Venkat Rao (State Coordinator for HRE Schools), and other Principals of HRE Schools were present on the dais on the occasion. . The 28th academic year of the formation house in Vijayawada ended on a festive note at Don Bosco, Gunadala, with the community celebrating the memories of the year, of life and of gratitude on 27th February 2010. The reason to celebrate was doubled as quite a many events were clubbed together. The day also commemorated the farewell for Cl. Praveen, the prenovices, postponed birthday of Rev. Fr Showrilu Chinnabathuni (Vocation Promoter), the anticipated birthday of Cl. Chinnam Dharmaraju and above all the submission of the applications for admissions to the renewals by the clerics, prenovices to the novitiate and the second inter students to the pre-novitiate.. On February 27, 2010 the Mary Immaculate High School premises was abuzz with nearly 150 children from seven different schools for a day of animation in line with the ongoing Human Rights Education (HRE) programme in the Khammam-Wyra region of Andhra Pradesh. The Chief guest of the day was Mrs. Gonela Vijayalakshmi, the Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Khammam. Review of the HRE clubs, leadership skills, human rights and culture, gender sensitivity and child rights were some of the main themes dealt with, according to the age group of the participants. . A five-day seminar on Psycho-Sexual Integration was facilitated by the Salesians for the novices of the archdiocese of Hyderabad on behalf of the Hyderabad Catholic Religious of India (CRI) from Feb. 20, 2010. Besides the Salesian novices there were also novices from six other congregations: St Ann of Providence, Sisters of Charity, Catechist Sisters of St. Ann, Nirmala, Presentation and JMJ. It was an enriching occasion for the 87 women and 16 men to better understand and appreciate their wholeness, in and through their human nature. Fr. As we celebrate the 60th Republic day of our country it was indeed a happy coincidence for us at Wyra because we feel that we are collaborating and trying to empower the women of our area. Keeping to the ideals of our Country we at Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK), Wyra are at the service of the empowerment of women. Recently BSK arranged three tailoring centers for women. On 26th January 2010 we opened a centre for teaching tailoring to women in Mallaram in Thallada Mandel as well as on 5th February at Annargudem in Thallada Mandal of Khammam district. . Read More »

The final annual retreat of the academic year 2009-2010 commenced on February 8, 2010 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad. Nearly 25 confreres are attending this retreat preached by Fr Kunduru Joji SJ, a renowned Scripture scholar.
