The 6th Salesian Brothers` Congress got off to a colourful and spectacular start on December 30, 2008 in the Chennai Salesian Provincial House campus. Gathered for this mega event, which is organised once in four years, are 120 Salesians from across the South-Asia region. Of these, 95 are Brothers from the 11 Provinces that make up the region of South-Asia. Brothers are NOT extinct, but vibrant and making a significant impact on the congregation, were the strong words of Br Claudio Marangio, the Economer General during the inaugural session. It was not Silent Night after all!! A Thousand Halleluiahs rent the air in the stillness of the night at K. Nuagam Camp. Tensions had been mounting given the call for a Shut Down by the Swami Lakshmananda Saraswati Shrandhanjali Samidhi (SLSSS). With SLSSS calling off the Shut Down hope dawned for a Christmas albeit under heavy security cover. And starting from evening of 24th into the night of 25th it was Christmas celebrations all over Kandhamal with every relief camp having midnight services!!. Read More »

December 10, International Human Rights Day, saw the unique inauguration of the much awaited Psycho-Social Services at Don Bosco Nava Jeevan, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad. The twin inauguration of OOTA - WELL SPRINGS and THE SEEKERS was a simple ceremony that saw the participation of all the Don Bosco institutions working for the Young at Risk in Andhra Pradesh. After the blessing and the cutting of ribbons, an informal workshop explained the perspective of the centre.
