News in General, Vocation Amidst, tension and uncertainty of the political bandh called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for a separate Telangana State and the threatening cyclonic rain, Deacon Gopu Peter Reddy was ordained a priest, by very Rev. Thumma Bala, the bishop of Warangal at Mariapuram, Warangal district on Dec. 30, 2009. Ironically that was a reminder to the newly ordained that the priesthood is not a bed of roses. Rev. Govindu Joji, (Bishop of Nalgonda) in the presence of Rev. News in General, Appointments, SPCSA Adding greater excitement to the festive Christmas octave, was the declaration of Fr Raminedi Balaraju, as the next Provincial of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad. The information was made official by Fr Maddhichetty Noel, the present Provincial, during an ordination ceremony at Dharmaram (Nalgonda district, AP) on December 28, 2009. News in General ``Here I am Lord...`` was the ordination motto of Dc. Thomas Aquinas on the day of his ordination on 19th December, 2009 at Infant Jesus Cathedral, in Salem (Tamil Nadu) by Rev. Singaroyan, Bishop of Salem. Fr. Maddhichetty Noel, the Provincial of Hyderabad and Fr. Thomas Anchu, Provincial of Bangalore province were present for the Ordination. It was a moment of great joy to all, especially his parents Mr Rayappan, a catechist for 45 years, and his mother Ms Regina Mary (a teacher). News in General, Anniversary The 150th anniversary of the founding of the Salesian Congregation was well celebrated and remembered in the region of Guntur of the Hyderabad province. The programme was well planned by Fr. Jayapaul Reddy, Rector of St. Micheal Boys home, Guntur. Like Don Bosco meeting 18 young men on the 18th of December in 1859, so too on the 18th of December 2009, 12 Salesians and 2 cooperators gathered in the community room at St Michael`s Boys` Home, Gutnur for an hour long animation and payer service to grace the occasion. News in General, Anniversary On the December 12, 2009, the whole campus of Don Bosco Prem Nivas, Mangalagiri was filled with joy and exuberance besides the decorations and colourful banners that dotted the campus. The occasion was the Golden Jubilee of profession of Fr Chinnappa Thomas, popularly now known as Acharya Thomas. It would be good to remember that it was in the very same place, way back in the year 1976, that he pioneered the Premnivas institute - the one and only one institute in the whole Salesian congregation then, to look after physically challenged children. . News in General The Provincial council and the whole community of Don Bosco Provincial house, Hyderabad spent a day in celebration and joyful festivity around the crib and Fr Maddhichetty Noel, the Provincial as we celebrated the anticipated b`day of Fr Noel and the Christmas with the staff. The celebrations had an added zing with the talk of the name of the new Provincial being announced!
